TAMÁS KOMORÓCZKY
Tamás Komoróczky (1963, Békéscsaba) graduated in painting from the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in 1990. He was a founding member of the Újlak Group (1989-95), in 2001 he represented Hungary at the 49th Venice Biennale and in 2002 at the São Paolo Biennale. His artistic expression is universal – it discusses the coherent, complex but mostly banal systems of signs and meanings of our world in an approach close to the neo-conceptualist tendencies of contemporary art. His creation of images and objects, in a way similar to poetry, composes elements that are alien to each other but still hidden, and is nestled in the consciousness of the recipient in the form of semiotic experiments. His works can be found in many private and public collections in Hungary. He exhibits regularly at home and abroad. He is represented in the art trade by the acb Gallery.

When every reference abandons us, only the eternal minimalism of words can create a holistic connection to the totality of metaphysics. Poetry is the airbrush network of the moodboard of Tamás Komoróczky’s video. Poetry is also how the resonation of the rotor is casting a shadow on the jungle of taxonomy in Komoróczky’s Ancient: anal tyranny.
Only words which don’t rust have the power to face eternity. This timeless aspect of the video makes us viewers face something raw, something unprecedented, something anarcho-classical, where representation fails again and the constellations of visual poetry are able to rule the senses.

An unknown language learner from a time and culturally indefinable place (from the future?) tries to pronounce correctly and repeat after the robot teacher unfamiliar German concepts, expressions and historical references related to blood. In most places you will also get help in the form of an explanatory supplement. In the video, an abstract pattern of blood “woven” from elements borrowed from films and drawn visually flows…
